Case Study
Digital workflow for complex dental rehabilitation
Transforming advanced restorative care with fully digitalised workflows for stunning, personalised, efficient stunning results.

Patient presentation
The patient presented with a complex dental condition that required multiple interventions, including root canal therapy, extractions, and full-arch rehabilitation.
Traditionally, this case might have required an upper All-on-X treatment to address the extensive dental damage. However, the patient’s preference to avoid dentures called for a more personalised approach.
Treatment planning
To accommodate the patient’s unique needs and goals, Dr. Sonny and his team developed a customised treatment plan using a fully digital workflow. This approach provided several advantages, including improved efficiency, enhanced aesthetics, and the ability to fabricate provisional restorations in-house.

Digital workflow implementation
Smile design:
The patient’s desired smile was meticulously planned using exocad software, ensuring a harmonious and aesthetically pleasing outcome.
Comprehensive treatment day:
All necessary procedures, including root canal therapy, extractions, and fabrication of provisional bridges, were completed in a single appointment under oral sedation. This streamlined approach minimised patient discomfort and maximised efficiency.

In-house fabrication:
The provisional bridges were fabricated using a 3D printer, allowing for precise fit and customisation. Materials such as ONX T2, Rodin Titan, and TriniQ were selected based on their suitability for the specific case.
Aesthetic refinement:
The provisional bridges were further enhanced with the addition of pink composite and light characterisation, ensuring a natural appearance.

Teeth bonding:
The upper arch has been successfully bonded, while the lower teeth will be bonded after the gums have fully healed.
Treatment outcomes:
The digital workflow allowed Dr. Sonny and his team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred treatment. The patient achieved a functional and aesthetically pleasant smile without the need for traditional dentures. In-house fabrication of the provisional bridges provided a more comfortable and predictable interim restoration.

Dr. Sonny’s reflection
Dr. Sonny expressed his satisfaction with the outcome, emphasising the transformative power of digital dentistry. He noted that the ability to plan, fabricate, and deliver restorations efficiently has greatly improved his practice and the patient experience.
The speed at which this excellent result was achieved highlights the effectiveness of digital workflows in complex dental rehabilitation. By utilising digital dentistry technology, dental professionals can offer more personalised, efficient, and aesthetically refined treatment options tailored to the specific needs of their patients.
